Purpose
from the founder
Living and working in downtown Chicago gave me a perspective on the world that I never want to take back – but it always had me asking a few questions. How and where do so many people accumulate their fortunes? What do they have in common and how do I make that kind of money?
It was the fall of 2013 when I had my epiphany. After my 6am workout I was chatting with one of my (much) older buddies in the steam room – the guys always enjoyed hearing about the adventures of a single 30-year-old in the Gold Coast where we all lived. We sometimes talked about current events, or geopolitics or investing in stocks, but this one morning my buddy Dave mentioned CAN SLIM. I won’t forget that moment as I realized that I had finally discovered a methodology for investing in the stock market. I will be forever grateful to IBD for their principles and their books discussing them in detail, which can all be found at investors.com.
It was probably a week later when I found myself waiting for a bus on Michigan Avenue to head north and visit my girlfriend (who two years later became my wife), and I was surrounded by wealth again. As I looked up at the buildings I wondered about their owner’s success, but this time I knew it was all attainable and I didn’t have to find a better sales job to get there. In studying CAN SLIM I found what I had been looking for since I was a teenager: a new way to interpret the stock market, a new way to follow the price action of individual stocks. Specifically, it was the “I” in CAN SLIM that stands for institutional sponsorship, referring to mutual funds, hedge funds, top money managers and their buying or selling of stocks.
It was 9 years after my revelation that I began broadcasting calculations on twitter, now with a small team helping with my cause.
If I had the discipline to always sell my losers when down on heavy volume, or the patience to always hold my winners while consolidating on light volume, I would not be sharing this story with you. Profiting from stocks is difficult and we’re all human. We make mistakes. However, I must stress the importance of putting the odds in your favor with your own strategy – I am determined to help you do just that.
More retail investors need this perspective. There are fortunes that have yet to be made, and if they are using the right tools while applying patience and discipline those fortunes can be realized.
Volume Ticker was created because I want to share the tools I have developed and found success with, along with my framework based on momentum trading and volume price analysis. Subscribers receive these calculations every night after the closing bell.
Volume Ticker 2.0 includes the premium x-watchlist (Cross-Watchlist) subscription with bullish golden cross & bearish death cross patterns. These are the patterns in stocks where I have profited the most.
